May 14: Restaurants for Repairs

Tuesday, May 14

Restaurants for Repairs
MLK, Jr Service Project
8th Annual Restaurants for Repairs
Same Great Event, Different Month
Restaurants for Repairs has moved to May. Help support the 2020 Decatur Martin Luther King Jr. Service Project by dining out at a participating restaurant on Tuesday, May 14. A percentage of the day’s proceeds will be donated to the project, which provides much needed repairs to help Decatur’s older residents to live safely, comfortably and affordably in their homes. Three to four homes will receive large-scale repairs thanks to the participating restaurants and their patrons.
This event is one of the main sources of funding for the project that takes place over the King Holiday weekend in January. Help Decatur’s older residents to live safely, comfortably and affordable in their homes by
enjoying a delicious meal!
This year’s restaurants include:
  • Brick Store Pub
  • Cafe Lily
  • The Corner Pub
  • Farm Burger

Jan 16: Open House and Workshop: Atlanta Avenue Railroad Crossing Improvements

Wednesday, January 16; 4:30-7:30pm

Atlanta Friends Meeting House, 701 West Howard Avenue

Open House and Workshop: Atlanta Avenue Railroad Crossing Improvements

The community is invited to a second open house and workshop to help plan improvements to the railroad crossing at Atlanta Avenue. Ideas and concepts that were sketched out by residents in November and December have been evaluated and used to develop several preliminary plans to make the rail crossing and intersection safer for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists.

City of Decatur staff and the design team lead by Landis-Evans & Partners and Atkins will be available to explain the preliminary plans, respond to comments and suggestions and move towards a common plan for the crossing.  A community “academy” providing information about modern traffic signal design will be held continuously throughout the January 16 workshop.

Plan to drop by the Atlanta Friends Meeting, 701 West Howard Avenue, anytime during the workshop to learn about the project and share your thoughts.

SPLOST (Special Option Local Sales Tax) dollars are being used to fund these improvements.

The 2018 Annual Report for SPLOST dollars can be found:
